VMEP stands for Vision Motorsport Engineering Products. Vision Motorsport Engineering Products Ltd, known as VMEP and also trading as Vision Design & Manufacturing, is a UK manufacturer of motorsport flight cases, pit perches, pit walling and chassis set-up equipment, and an authorised distributor of motorsport parts from brands including ARE, Cartek, Fuel Safe, Tilton and VP Racing Fuels.
The company was founded in 2016 by Alex Champkin after a decade developing and racing a Vision in the UK Clubman's Sports Prototype series. Everything VMEP makes is designed and built at its own workshop at Unit 20, Bidavon Industrial Estate, Bidford-on-Avon, Warwickshire, which is why a bespoke case is built in 3 to 14 days from signed-off specification and a quote comes back within 1 working day.
What does VMEP make?
All of it is made in Bidford. Prices are ex VAT.
- Flight cases. 249 cases in the standard range, from a £95 kart engine case to a £13,965 multi-case pit kit: Euro container, tool box, Stanley FatMax, data station, hospitality, engine and gearbox, air jack, fuel transport and 19in racking cases. Anything not in the range is built to your specification.
- Pit perches. Multi-screen pit perch units supplied with their own flight case, £6,600 to £7,645.
- Pit walling. Lightweight foam-cored garage walling panels supplied as a kit with its own flight cases: a single car garage kit from £9,895 and a two car kit from £16,495.
- Chassis set-up equipment. Set-up floors, pad levellers, hub stands, laser tracking gauges, camber and bump steer gauges. This is where the company started.
- Pit equipment. Air jack elephant feet and skates, tyre racks, awning and pit garage equipment.
Which parts brands does VMEP supply?
Stocked parts from the brands we use ourselves, dispatched from the same workshop, typically within 1 to 2 working days:

- Tilton: pedal boxes, master cylinders and brake bias adjusters

What can the workshop do?
CNC routing, fibre laser etching, CNC milling and turning, 3D printing on a Stratasys F170, MIG and TIG welding and fabrication, custom foam inserts and 3D CAD design, all on the same floor. They are the machines we build our own products on, and they are available for your project too.
How VMEP started
Vision was formed in 2016 by Alex Champkin after spending a decade developing and competing a Vision in the Clubman's Sports Prototype series in the UK.
Some of the first races I watched were Clubman's races, and I looked up to many of the front running drivers of the time growing up. I vividly remember being sat on my bike watching in amazement a race at Snetterton with Michael Mallock in his first car race and Peter Clark battling all race long, completely on the limit from lights to flag. If there was a single reason as to why I got involved with the sport it would probably be because of that race.
After attending many race weekends from an early age cleaning wheels, polishing cars and observing, the time finally came when I could take part myself. Having spent countless hours developing the Vision over the years into a multiple championship winning car in the same series I grew up watching was a childhood dream come true.
Improving the performance and trying to get everything out of the Vision that was possible was my ultimate goal, and the current set up equipment was either not quite right for my application or just wasn't available.
This led to designing my own equipment, and on one late evening in the workshop just after finishing the first set up floor my dad said, ‘you could sell them’, and the company began.
Alongside racing I graduated with a BSc in Motorsport Technology and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering. I then began working for a small manufacturing company specialising in braking systems for high performance and race cars as a design engineer.
Working for BG Developments was a great experience and gave me further understanding of the Motorsport industry and manufacturing in particular. The knowledge gained here combined with the passion for Motorsports and development goes into each and every product / service offered.
