Flight Cases, Designed and Built in the UK
Every case here is built by us at VMEP in our Bidford-on-Avon workshop, and if the size you need isn't listed, send us the dimensions and we'll build it.
How we build them
Hexaboard birch ply with aluminium extrusion and angle edging, twin butterfly latches, recessed pull-out handles and braked castors. Panel finish is a priced option: black or blue hexaboard, blue or red smooth, or our Ultra Lightweight build where weight on the transporter matters.
Stock sizes ship in 1 to 2 working days. A bespoke case is 3 to 14 days from the day we sign the spec off with you, and the quote comes with a firm date.
The same construction goes into our cases for music, stage and lighting kit, video production, film carts, exhibition stands and workshop machinery, so if yours isn't motorsport, that's fine.
01 What is a flight case?
A transport-rated case built from panel and frame rather than moulded in one piece. It's made to be lifted, strapped into a van, wheeled across a paddock and stacked, and to keep what's inside where you put it. A toolbox or a plastic crate is built to sit still. 02 How much does a flight case cost?
Across VMEP's 290 standard cases, starting prices run from £95 to £12,430 ex VAT and the median case starts at £1,095. As a rough guide: storage boxes from £275, Euro container and Stanley FatMax cases from £495, data stations from £550, hospitality units from £580, tool cases from £825 and pit perches from £6,600. 03 What can go in a custom case?
Engines and gearboxes, tool sets, Euro containers, corner weight scales, air jacks, wheels and tyres, fuel jugs, 19in racks, data stations, hospitality units with fridges, driver kit, awnings, welding gear and film carts have all had cases from us. If it has to travel and doesn't already have a case, we can build one, with foam inserts routed to the part if it needs holding still.
04 Do you ship across the UK and abroad?
Yes. Delivery is charged by weight band and destination: the UK, Europe, the US, Australia and Japan are priced at checkout, and anywhere else is quoted. Cases are heavy and bulky, so on a big unit the delivery line is real money rather than a rounding error. Rates are on the shipping policy page.
05 How do I order a bespoke case?
Send us what's going inside, its dimensions and weight, how it travels and the date you need it. Photos with a tape measure in shot beat a long email. We come back within 1 working day with a firm price and a lead time. The custom case checklist covers what makes a first-time-right quote.
06 How long does a custom case take, and does laser etching add to it?
3 to 14 days from signed-off specification at VMEP, and the clock starts when we've agreed the spec with you, not at your first email. Logo plates and labels are marked on our own fibre laser while the case is being cut and assembled, so etching isn't a separate stage at the end. Raise branding when you send the brief.
